Ken Adcox
Ken Adcox is the principal of Praetorian Consulting, LLC, a Houston-based security firm dedicated to helping business and industry “move left of the bang” through prevention-based and employee-centered security strategies and education.
Ken has 35 years of law enforcement and security experience having served as Police Chief and executive officer with 3 of Texas’ largest, most and mid-sized progressive police agencies. He has also served as the Vice President of Security Operations for a large multi-campus state university and hospital system.
Ken has thousands of hours of law enforcement and security-related training, including:
- The Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Institute’s Command Leadership College
- Northwestern University’s Senior Leadership Program
- The Southern Police Institute Executive Leadership Course
- The Penn State Justice Institute Executive Development Program
- The Texas FBI National Academy Associates Law Enforcement Management Course
Ken holds two graduate degrees, including a Master of Public Administration Degree, with an emphasis in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Security Studies—Homeland Security. He has also earned a graduate certificate in Organizational Behavior from Harvard University and engaged in post-graduate studies while pursuing a Doctorate Degree in Organizational Management.
Ken continues to serve as an adjunct faculty member at both the undergraduate and graduate teaching levels. He is also a military veteran having served in the U.S. Army Reserve including service during Operation Desert Storm. He is a Certified Public Manager (CPM), a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), and the author of a number of works on public safety and homeland security.
